2017 Committees, Councils, and Chapters

Unless indicated otherwise, meetings take place at the Central office, 5400 Poplar Avenue, Memphis.

Builders’ & Developers Issues Committee:

Acts as the primary liaison between the West Tennessee Home Builder's Association and local code enforcement agencies and utilities. Reviews and recommends programs and policies that impact the home building industry to the Board of Directors. Meets as needed.

Government Affairs Committee:

Serves as primary liaison between the home builders association and local, state, and nationally elected officials. Oversees and recommends policy on legislative, regulatory, and legal matters to the full Board of Directors. Open meeting the 2nd Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m.

BUILDPAC Committee:

BUILDPAC serves as the fundraising arm of the West Tennessee Home Builder's Association. This group is responsible for soliciting contributions and working with the Government Affairs committee in distributing these funds to candidates sensitive to the home building industry and its initiatives. Open meeting every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m.

Fayette County Home Builders and Developers Chapter:

Provides local support, networking opportunities, and information about issues related to the builders, developers and associates doing business in the Fayette County area. Open meeting every 3rd Thursday of the month at 11:15 a.m., Trustmark Bank's Oak Room.

Membership Team:

Facilitates the identification and recruitment of new members and promotes the involvement of members in all association programs and activities. Plans and conducts orientation meetings and develops retention efforts. Meets the 1st Wednesday of the month at 8:00 a.m.

Professional Women in Building: (Annual Fee $75)

Formed in early 2010, the local Professional Women in Building (PWB) council is dedicated to promoting, enhancing and supporting home building and women within the industry. Open meeting the 1st Thursday of the month at 12 Noon.

Home Builders Care:

Works in conjunction with staff to research, organize and implement community service projects in the Mid-South area. In recent years, West Tennessee HBA has constructed homes for Habitat for Humanity, hosted fundraising events for the family of a slain Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy and the Fire Museum of Memphis and donated over $75,000 to several local charitable organizations. Meets at announced times.

Remodelers Council (Annual Fee $75):

Oversees the Remodelers program including the WestTNHBA Remodelers Warranty. Addresses industry issues affecting remodelers, sponsors educational seminars & training sessions. Meeting for Council Members every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. Find out more about this Council by clicking here.

Cornerstone Club (Annual Fee: $249):

West Tennessee HBA’s “Booster” Club, members receive free tickets to VESTA Home Expo, VESTA Home Show, one General Membership Meeting, and recognition throughout the year. Meets at announced times.

VESTA Home Show Committee:

To locate annual VESTA development site and assist with builder issues, sponsorship sales, and advertising & publicity related to the show. Meets at announced times.

Closed Meetings

Board of Directors:

Approves operating and capital budgets, represents the membership of the association, addresses issues facing the organization, and ensures proper use of assets. The Board of Directors is elected annually by the membership. Meeting every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 11:30 a.m.

Executive Committee:

A committee within the Board of Directors and has such powers as are delegated to it by the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee is an elected body.  Closed meeting the Monday preceding the monthly Board of Directors meeting, 11:30 a.m.

Builder Standards Committee:

Provides networking opportunities for exchange of information; identifies the special needs associated with builders and develops programs and services to meet those needs, interviews new builder and developer members, and responds to issues of concern impacting builders and homeowners. The Committee is appointed annually. Closed meeting every 1st Tuesday of the month at 12:00 Noon. Find out more about this committee here.

Associates Council:

The Associates Council plans and conducts new programs, projects and events that will result in meaningful opportunities for Builder and Associate members to network and work together on issues that advance the industry. The Associates Council is an elected body. If you are interested in running for a position on this Council, contact the staff liaison. Closed meeting every 1st Tuesday of the month at 11:00 a.m.
